Liturgy for wherever you are

Luke 23:1-12 | April 13, 2025

welcome to WORSHIP

Liturgy is an ancient word for worship that is usually translated as “the work of the people.” You’ll hear the voices of our pastoral staff and our community each week, and we are so grateful that this is the work we get to do together. We prayerfully plan our worship services trusting that the Spirit will use each element to shape us and our desires as we pursue the path of Christ. Lyrics*

Every Praise

Hezekiah Walker | John David Bratton

Every praise is to our God
Every word of worship with one accord
Every praise every praise is to our God
Sing hallelujah to our God
Glory hallelujah is due our God
Every praise every praise is to our God

God my Savior
God my Healer
God my Deliverer
Yes He is yes He is

Every praise is to our God
Every word of worship with one accord
Every praise every praise
Every praise every praise
Every praise every praise is to our God

O Worship the King

Johann Michael Haydn | Robert Grant

O worship the King all glorious above
O gratefully sing His wonderful love
Our Shield and Defender the Ancient of Days
Pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise

O tell of His might O sing of His grace
Whose robe is the light and canopy space
His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form
And dark is His path on the wings of the storm

You alone are the matchless King
To You alone be all majesty
Your glories and wonders
What tongue can recite
You breathe in the air
You shine in the light

O measureless might ineffable love
While angels delight to worship above
Thy mercies how tender how firm to the end
Our Maker Defender Redeemer and Friend

King of My Heart

John Mark McMillan | Sarah McMillan

Let the King of my heart
Be the mountain where I run
The fountain I drink from
Oh He is my song
Let the King of my heart
Be the shadow where I hide
The ransom for my life
Oh He is my song

You are good good oh
You are good good oh
You are good good oh
You are good good oh

Let the King of my heart
Be the wind inside my sails
The anchor in the waves
Oh He is my song
Let the King of my heart
Be the fire inside my veins
The echo of my days
Oh He is my song

You’re never gonna let, never gonna let me down
You’re never gonna let, never gonna let me down
You’re never gonna let, never gonna let me down
You’re never gonna let, never gonna let me down

Doxology

Thomas Ken

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God above, ye heav'nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

What a wonderful group of friends we had for this week’s service! John Jay welcomed us, and then he and Chip invited us into a practice of shared gratitude. Andrew called us into worship. Our Children and Youth led worship with the Choir to welcome Holy Week with palms waving. Molly led us in a congregational prayer. Buki read our scripture. John Jay provided our teaching. Jessica H invited us into a time of generosity through our offering. John Jay and Lindsay reminded us of the different ways we are invited to participate in communal life together. Our musicians this morning were Leslie, Paul, Sam, Chris, Tilli, Riley, Rick, Scott. Leslie oversaw the production while Steph worked their technical magic to mix this special collaborative worship experience.

Much love from your church family at FBC Pasadena.
